The dimming dial is the part I didn't know I needed, letting me turn the cockpit glow down low instead of that harsh full brightness. No soldering at all, just clicked it in and it worked first try.

Setting up the lighting took no time at all since there's zero soldering involved, just the one-touch connection. The dimming range is plenty for most builds, though I wish the knob had a bit more resistance so it wouldn't shift when I bump the model.
