Påfør alltid en toppstrøk med lav erosjonsserie, da malingsfilmen er utsatt for misfarging på grunn av oksidasjon, og forkromningen kan fjernes ved berøring. Ikke la malingspluggen stå åpen, da den er følsom for fuktighet. La grunnstrøket tørke grundig før maling.
